Pretty much the same way; what else can you do? Bit surprised that costs were awarded, though. We usually discount them.
ReplyDeleteI do not understand why compensation was ordered: to whom paid - the giver? Did the court have a named person?
ReplyDeleteStreet beggars and Drunk & Disorderlies are two of the categories courts deal with as best they can, which in reality is probably not that well or much help. Courts are not a social service and don't have means of rehabilitation at that low end of the scale. Often the offender is held in custody overnight (particularly D&D) and is simply fined a small amount and the fine paid off as time served. Unsatisfactory to all concerned but what else is to be done?
